The LiT program is an incredibly exciting part of Camp Spirit. An LiT is a youth Leader In Training, aging up and out of the day-camp age groups. The focus of the program is developing leadership skills and then practicing these skills in the day camper program. The LiT's will learn in many different ways: through practice, classroom-style learning, arts, and crafts, and play! 

What is the purpose of this program? 
To provide an opportunity for those going into grade 7, 8, and 9 to:

• learn basic leadership skills in a supported environment
• develop knowledge in working with children
• experience learning in a spiritually based community of youth
• actively practice their faith in outreach experiences in the local area
• enjoy the experience of Camp Spirit within the LiT program and within the whole of Camp Spirit

We hope to achieve this by making sure participants will

• learn and practice one leadership skill per day
• have an opportunity three times in the week to practice their leadership with one of the Camp Spirit age groups (K – Grade 3/4)
• experience outreach opportunities each week beyond the Camp Spirit site

What does a typical day look like?
From 9 - 9:30, we will gather in our group and prepare for the day. At 9:30, we meet with the full camp for a morning gathering time. After, we will introduce a leadership skill and work on it either by joining some of the different age groups or through activities within the LiT group. We will debrief our morning before we rejoin the rest of camp for lunch. After we eat, there will be opportunities to connect with the other campers through out trips, community engagement activities, and outreach opportunities. ​
