It might feel early to start dreaming about summer—especially while we’re still scraping ice off our windshields—but the season of sunshine and community will be here before we know it. As plans begin to take shape, we’d love Camp Spirit 2026 to be one of the joyful things you pencil into your calendar.

This summer, Camp Spirit is delighted to partner with 22 Communities of Faith across the Pacific Mountain Region. Many of these sites have hosted Camp Spirit for years, building beautiful relationships with their surrounding communities. We’re also excited to welcome 5 brand‑new sites and celebrate 5 sites returning after hosting for the first time in 2025.

Do you know a child or teen who would thrive in a community that practices radical hospitality, playful and hope-filled faith exploration, child‑centred activities, singing, creativity, shared meals, and moments of real belonging? If so, we’d be grateful if you shared this invitation with them.

Many of our sites fill up quickly, so we encourage families to register early to avoid disappointment. We cannot wait to welcome children and youth into another season of joy, connection, and Spirit-filled summer fun!

]]><![CDATA[NEW Camp Spirit at Jubilee United - Sussex]]>Sat, 19 Aug 2023 04:44:25 GMThttps://www.campspirit.ca/news/august-18th-2023It is with sadness that we are canceling the camp at First United Community in Salmon Arm this week due to the wildfires growing SO quickly today. We hold First United Community and all of Salmon Arm and surrounding communities in our prayers.

Our staff team is pulling together a LAST MINUTE CAMP SPIRIT in Burnaby, at Jubilee United Church - Sussex site. We have spaces for 20 campers ages 5-11 and 5 Leaders-in-Training ages 12-14. Camp will start on Tuesday, August 22

Camp Spirit at Jubilee United SUSSEX AVENUE

Dates: Tuesday August 22 - Friday August 25
Location: 6000 Sussex Avenue, by Metrotown (Note: this is a DIFFERENT location from the Rumble Street Jubilee camp earlier this summer)
Ages: 5-11 for the Camper program and 12-14 for the Leaders-In-Training program
Cost: $140, including Lunch and Snacks, all program materials, and a Camp Spirit t-shirt.

Sadly, we have made the difficult decision to cancel two of this summer's Camp Spirit sessions due to low registration and the significantly increasing overall costs of the overall camp season. Though Camp Spirit is no longer offering programing in these two communities, Quadra Island United and Nelson United have determined alternative options for campers for this summer. We hope that the offered alternatives can be a fit for your family and Camper!

Quadra Island United Church
Camp Spirit staff are no longer offering Camp Spirit on Quadra Island. Instead, the Quadra Island United Church community of faith is offering 3 days of morning fun from Monday, August 15 to Wednesday, August 17th! If you are interested in finding out more about or attending this fun program, please contact Mimi Smienk at tel: 1-250-895-9856.

Nelson United Church
Camp Spirit staff are no longer offering Camp Spirit in Nelson. For folks interested in United Church children's summer programs in the Kootenays, there is the option to register for Camp Spirit at Castlegar United Church, Monday August 22 - Friday August 26.

If you registered your camper for Camp Spirit at Nelson United Church starting Aug 15 (now cancelled), please contact our Camp Spirit Administrators, Lisa and Leah, to transfer your Nelson Camper to the Castlegar United Church Site, or request a refund if attending in Castlegar isn't possible for your family.

We've just update the list of Summer Weeks to share the news:

Week 4 at Peninsula United Church in White Rock - there is now LIMITED AVAILABILITY for the Children's Program (5-11years). There is LIMITED AVAILABILITY for the LIT program (12-14 years).
Week 5 at Salmon Arm First United Church in Salmon Arm - there is now limited limited availability for Children's Program (5-11years). There is still plenty of room in the LIT program (12-14 years).
Week 6 at St George's United Church in Courtenay - there is now limited limited availability for Children's Program (5-11years). There is still plenty of room in the LIT program (12-14 years).
Week 7 at Jubilee United Church in Burnaby - both the 5-11 years and LIT program are now FULL. A waitlist is being taken.

If you would like your child to join the "Walking School Bus,"

Please meet at Shiloh-Fifth Avenue United Church at 8:40am.
The group will leave promptly at 8:45!
Pick up at the end of the day will be at 3:00 pm at Shiloh-Fifth Avenue.
